I heard Wolf’s steps behind me and eyed the room again. The walls were a soft blue-gray and the trim a bright white. The cherry-colored wood flooring was pretty and so was the throw rug with blues, grays, and a bit of teal. But the bed… I sighed. It was completely unreasonable to ask him to get a new bed. I wouldn’t do it. I’d just have to pull up my big girl panties and deal with it. It wasn’t like I’d ever imagined a guy like him would be a virgin. Franny had likely only been one of many to share his bed.
Wolf placed his hands on my shoulders, kneading the muscles. “You’re too tense. Something wrong?”
“Only thinking.”
“Must not be something good.” He wrapped his arms around me, tugging me against his chest. “Want to talk about it?”
No, not really. I might be a bit insecure where he was concerned, but it didn’t mean I wanted him to know about it. I was supposed to be a strong, independent woman. A single mom who could stand on her own two feet. Not mope because the guy I liked had been with other women. I wasn’t in high school anymore and needed to grow the hell up. Then again, Franny was only a small part of my dark thoughts tonight, even if she’d been the catalyst.
“She called me a whore,” I murmured, immediately wanting to call the words back.
“I’m sorry, Glory. You know damn well that isn’t the case. You’re the sweetest, most innocent woman I’ve ever known. She lashed out and went after you instead of me.”
“After… the incident, I felt so dirty. I scrubbed my skin until I rubbed it raw. Several times a day, I’d shower in water so hot it hurt. People would whisper behind my back, saying I’d deserved what happened to me.” I leaned against him, giving him more of my weight. “Sometimes I wish I knew who’d hurt me. Other times, I realize it’s for the best I don’t.”
Wolf held me, giving me his support. I didn’t spiral into dark thoughts often. Most of the time, I pushed forward, refusing to let one night ruin the rest of my life. Besides, I’d gotten Sienna out of it, and I loved her more than anything. My girl was amazing, and she made life worth living. If it hadn’t been for her, I might not have pulled myself from the darkness. And now I had Wolf…
“I guess hearing her call me that brought it all back,” I said.
“Until you went toe to toe with Fran, I didn’t realize how many excuses I’d made for her. She took me by surprise, but I promise I will never let someone speak to you like that again. I should have done something more than stand there.”
I rubbed his arm where he still held it around my waist. “It’s okay, Max. The two of you have history together. And I saw how manipulative she was with Dagger. I’d imagine she’d been the same with you.”
He nodded, his five-o’clock shadow scraping my neck. “Yeah, she was. I guess with her past I made too many allowances for her. I didn’t do either of us any favors.”
“You saw a sweet woman in trouble,” I said. “She played on that and used it to her advantage. Makes me wonder what happened with the man she was supposedly seeing.”
“I’m not about to track her down to ask,” Wolf said. “But I have a feeling Slash will have more than a few questions for her, especially if Dagger tells him the way she acted while she was here.”
I turned to face him, his arm remaining around my waist. “No one seemed to know we were together. You said you’d told Steel, and I know you told the Prospect who brought us food. Do you think he forgot to let anyone know?”
“It’s possible. He’s probably been tied up with the mess at the clinic.”
I ran my hands up and down his chest. “You know, it’s my first night here. We should take advantage of Sienna being asleep. Especially since she’ll probably wake up in a few hours needing to be changed.”
Wolf cupped my cheek and leaned down. “Oh yeah? What exactly do you think we should do?”
I bit my lip so I wouldn’t smile. “Well, you could make me scream your name. Isn’t that what you bikers are supposed to be so good at? Making a woman beg for more?”
He growled softly and backed me toward the bed. “That what you want? To beg? I might like having you on your knees.”
My breath caught and my nipples tightened. Holy shit! The image of me on my knees, dipping my hands into his pants, made me burn hot. I’d never sucked a guy off before and the idea of letting Wolf be my first and only? Yeah, big turn-on. I knew with him I was safe. There wasn’t a single doubt in my mind he’d never hurt me. At least, not intentionally.
I slid down his body until my knees hit the floor, my hands dragging down his torso to rest on his hips. “You mean like this?”
His eyes darkened and I saw the muscle in his jaw tic. I reached up and ran my fingers back and forth just under the waist of his shorts. The rumble of his growl vibrated against my hand and I squeezed my thighs together. Licking my lips, I held his gaze as I tugged his shorts down. It didn’t escape my notice he wasn’t wearing underwear. Had I known he was going commando the entire time we’d been here tonight, I might have been tempted to try this sooner.
His cock bobbed in front of my face, pre-cum already beading on the tip. My heart pounded in
