“Don’t cry.” His words softly vibrated my small body, calming me. My dry heaving eventually slowed, until the uneasy silence filled the air.
I began to pick myself and my over flowing book bag when a pair of hands wrapped around my waist, twirling me up to see the face. He was my neighbor, Ace. His eyes were filled with rage as he saw what just happened. My boyfriend of 3 years kicked me out, rather forcefully too. He watched me sob like an idiot on the paved walkway. Josh had always been there for me, when my ex and I would get in arguments, and would clean up the endless bruises and cuts up with what he had. We had a bond that wasn’t romantic, and that’s why I loved him. But what happened made me question everything from do I love him to what came first the chicken or the egg. His soft, pink lips met mine, and it electrocuted through my body. It was supposed to be something to calm me, I knew, but my lips were stinging when he pulled away. I hadn’t realized how much he meant to me until this exact moment. Hell, I would run away to Asia with him.
“Lets go, I don’t like it here. Take me away.” My begging only made Ace smirk at me, before picking up my bags and walking towards his place.
It’s been two weeks since the kiss. We hadn’t done anything else after that except go home. Every time he would walk into a room my heart beat quickened and I couldn’t handle my breathing. He was downright gorgeous and I wasn’t even guilty for my thoughts.
“Josh I’m going to smack you.” He said, chuckling.
“Please do, papi.” I said, winking and then returning his chuckle. His eyes glazed over, for only a second before he smiled and turned toward the coffee pot. He refilled the mugs, and slid one towards me.
“Thanks.” I whispered, noticing his discomfort. Before I knew it he was propping both his hands beside my waist. Not on them, just enough to hold me in place. My cheeks heated and he looked at me in awe.
“Wh-“ I started, but was cut off by Ace.
“Shhhh” He had picked me up, pulling me closer to him and started toward the bedroom.
It was 4 am, and I’m sure I woke up a few people down the street.
The next morning I felt nothing but pure bliss as my eyes fluttered. I turned to my side, exhaling deeply seeing that Ace hadn’t left. His right arm was around my body, holding me so tight as if he believed I was going to drift away. Nope.
I hopped up onto his chest, wrapping myself in the blanket being the self conscious lamo I am.
“Ace.” My voice was barely above a whisper, and even I had to strain to hear myself.
“HgPnnnnjansu.”
“Wh-“ I started, and he pulled me back into his grip, propping his head onto my bare chest. I sat back up onto his, and stroked his hair softly.
“Ace.” I was louder now. Suddenly his eyes opened, the piercing blue burning holes into me before glazing over and he grinned.
“Come on!” I said, smiling. He sat up and pulled me close into a soft kiss, making me want more when he moved back.
“I have to take a shower and go to work.” I frowned, feeling a lump in my throat.
“No! Not- not now..” I pleaded, latching onto his arm like it was my lifeline.
“I guess not today,” he huffed “Im still taking a shower. Wanna join?” An amused smirk instantly appeared.
“What kind of question is that?” I asked, and he chuckled.
After the little fun in the shower, we decided to stay home. I lived by myself in a two story house. It was distanced a few miles from civilization, and there was complete and utter silence. It used to scare me, knowing I would always be alone.
“Stop being depressed.” Josh said. He was on my lap while I was playing a video game. His frown made me pause the whole game and stare at him.
“I’m not, I have you.” I said, putting my hands up his -actually he was wearing my big shirt with no pants- shirt and rubbing circles on his back. Instantly he grew calm, and lied his head onto my chest.
I loved how we got along so well. We knew each other since 2nd grade. I knew I liked him a lot, but knew he didn’t feel the same. I guess I had to show him. And that’s what I did. Now the boy of my dreams begged me to kiss him and not to even leave the room, cooing like a child while I rubbed his back, etc.
I stood, going to get something to eat when he tugged at my sleeve.
“Hmm?” I didn’t mean to sound so soft.
“Don’t leave me.” His eyes glistened and he waited for me to respond. I pulled him into my arms and continued into the kitchen. Great. Now he doesn’t trust me.I sat him onto the marble counter.
