I stood by my locker, waiting for my best friends, Robyn and Caitlyn. I tapped my foot impatiently. Finally I saw them rushing towards me. "We're so sorry, Mrs. Lesse made us stay after!" Caitlyn said. I smiled.
"It's alright. I wasn't here for that long." I heard them both sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness Brooklyn. We thought that you would get mad. We know you're stressed out right now with Honor Finals a week away." Robyn exclaimed. I sighed.
"That is pretty stressful. I've been studying day and night." I grabbed my best friend's arms and started walking down the hall. "You guys want to hang at my place tonight? You know, have a girls night?" I asked. They shrugged.
"Sure, I don't think we're doing anything important tonight." Caitlyn commented. Robyn and Caitlyn are step-sisters, Caitlyn's mom and Robyn's dad got married about two months ago. It was pretty sweet.
"We should order pizza." Robyn said softly. I nodded, then felt someone brush against my bag. I turned around to see the quarterback of our football team, Rich Raymond. I rolled my eyes.
"Hi Brooklyn." he stated, placing his hand on my waist. I pushed him off. "Hey." I replied.
"You're looking great. You wanna go out on Friday?" he smirked. I rolled my eyes.
"You forgot one thing, Rich. I don't like you." I smirked right back and walked off, with Robyn and Caitlyn following.
We all went to my house to chill. I ordered pizza and we watched Mean Girls for probably the billionth time. I took a bite of my cheese pizza. "West Way is soo good." I groaned. Caitlyn nodded.
"I know right, it's amazing. Did you hear about the new boy coming on Monday?" she asked, taking a bite of her supreme pizza. I shook my head.
"Nope. What's his name?" I asked, leaning forwards and wiggling my eyebrows.
"Umm... Kayden I think." she looked deep in thought. I smiled.
"He sounds hot." Robyn commented. We all laughed.
A few hours later after gosipping, I heard Caitlyn's phone go off. She looked at her texts immeadietly. "Rob, its from Dad. He wants us home in ten." Caitlyn said, putting her phone in her back pocket. Robyn nodded.
"Do you guys need to go? It's getting pretty late." I looked at my phone. 11:36. Dang we've been here for a while.
They both nodded. "We'll take my car." Caitlyn said, getting up. "See you guys Monday." I said, waving slightly. They both waved back and went out the door. I laid back on my bed and imagined what Kayden would look like.
Chapter 2MONDAY MORNING
I hurried into the school and met Caitlyn and Robyn by their lockers. "Is he here?!" I rushed. Robyn's face was bright red and she looked at Caitlyn and shook her head.
"What's with the tomato?" I motioned to Robyn's face. She coughed, embarassed. I laughed. Soon the bell rang and we all went our seperate ways to first hour.
When I walked in, everything looked strange. Everyone was on one side of the room, and this guy was on the other. There were no seats left on the right side of the room, so I sat next to the guy. He shyly shot me a smile and looked at his converse. He was REALLY cute. Make that hot. My mind totally blanked of the new kid, Kayden, so I named this kid Sam. Yes, Sam.
"Class take a seat... oh I see you already have." Mr. Carterr came in and sat down behind his desk. He looked at me and Sam. "Ah, I see we have a new student. Can you tell us your name, son?" Mr. Carterr asked, pushing his glasses up on his nose. Sam nodded, and shyly stood up.
"My name is Kayden Matthews, I'm from Texas, I ride horses sometimes, and yeah..." he trailed off, still staring at his shoes. He had an accent, and might I say, it was hot.
"So he's Kayden!" I thought in my head. I was probably obsessed with his accent right now.
As he sat down, I worked myself up to talk to him. I took a deep breath and leaned over his desk. "Hey." I whispered. He smiled a perfect smile, with his teeth completely straight.
"Hi." he whispered back.
"I'm Brooklyn." I shot him a smile. Not as perfect as his, but it might have come close.
"Pretty name for a pretty girl." he said softly, making me blush.
"Thanks." I said, turning back to face my desk and scribbled something in my journal, pretending to take notes on Mr. Carterr's lesson. I could see him looking at me from the corner of my eye.
I definetly have a crush on Kayden.
Chapter 3Kayden's POV
This Brooklyn girl was really cute. She looked smart too.
At my last school I had the worst bad boy attitude. My mom moved us here so we could both get a "fresh" start. That's why I'm acting so shy. My mom would be so disappointed if she found out I was bad again. I tried for my mom.
After class, Brooklyn caught up with me in the halls. She was really short compared to me. She only went up to my chin. Ha.
"Hey Kayden." she said, flashing me a smile. I returned it.
"Hey. I was wondering something..." I trailed off, biting my lip and looking at the floor.
"Yeah?" she asked.
"Could you tutor me? I'm not that great in Math and Reading." I said shyly, looking around.
"I'd love to." she whispered, then we realized that we had stopped in the middle of the hall and the tardy bell went off. "Crap." she muttered, then started to run to her class. Turns out that it was my class too.
"What are you two doing in the hall without a hall pass?" our principal, Ms. Johnson, said sternly.
"We were talking about tutoring and didn't realized we stopped." I said, semi-smirking at Brooklyn. She was frozen, like a deer caught in the headlights. I smirked again and turned back to Ms. Johnson.
"Kayden, this is your first day. I'm disappointed." She pursed her lips. Ouch. That word. I hated it so much. I started to glare at her. "Both of you, come into my office." she took our arms and dragged us into her office.
I'm pretty sure Brooklyn was freaking out. I've been sent to the principals many times, but I'm guessing she hasn't.
"You two will have lunch detention for three weeks." Ms. Johnson said harshly. We both nodded slowly.
"My mom's going to be so disappointed." I thought.
Chapter 4Brooklyn's POV
This was the first time I've been in the principals office. My parents will be so mad. When we got out, Kayden smirked at me. "First time at the principals office?" he asked, and I nodded. He laughed. "Welcome to the bad world."
I sat in Science, staring at my notebook. I sighed, then scribbled a note from Mrs. Thompson. Even when I'm daydreaming I still pay semi- attention. I felt my phone buzz, and looked at Caitlyn. She was taking notes. I looked at Robyn, and she was taking notes too. I slowly pulled out my phone and checked my texts. Wait, this isn't my phone...
"How did this get in my pocket?" I thought, suddenly alarmed. I unlocked it without a password. Mine had a password. Definetly not my phone. The screen saver was of Kayden and some other person. "Ahh! This is Kayden's phone?!" I thought. I looked at him, he was smirking at me. What's with this boy and smirking? I looked at the new text.
Unknown: I have your phone.
I texted back.
Me: And I have yours!
He smirked and texted back.
Unknown: haha Thanks for giving me your number.
I smiled at him and didn't text back.
At passing period, he gave me my phone back, and I gave his back. "Your crazy." I said, walking to my third hour.
During third hour, I doodled on my notebook. I thought about Kayden, I was pretty sure he liked me.
Did I like him back?
Chapter 5Kayden caught up with me at lunch. I looked at him weirdly. "Are you stalking me?" I said, getting into the lunchline. He smiled and laughed a bit.
"Probably." he replied, still smiling a perfect smile. I felt butterflies swimming around my stomach. I rolled my eyes and turned away. "Can we do tutoring today?" he asked, turning me around by my shoulders. I shrugged.
"Sure. My house or yours?" I asked, turning back.
"Mine. I can drive us there." he responded. I felt my phone buzz as I walked into the lunchroom. I pulled it out of my pocket and checked my texts. It read:
Caitlyn: You+Kayden= cutest couple ever!!
I rolled my eyes and got a tray, and then got my food. I sat down next to Robyn, stuffing her face. She looked up at me with a piece of ham on her cheek. I laughed, and handed her a napkin. "Check your food problems honey." I said, and she blushed
