due to the back to back assignments her history and psychology teachers had given her. She was a little pissed off about them, but had no other choice besides just doing them. Jason stopped in after school to talk with her a little bit before he left to meet his friends. He found her hard at work, scratching letters onto the paper furiously. They talked a little bit, but Sarah wanted to finish it all that night and thought she could do so with a little focus. Jason kissed her goodbye and left her to her work. He hoped that by tomorrow, she would be free to go out and have fun.
As he left the school, he met up with Matt at the crosswalk to go to the football game. He was texting someone and didn’t look up until he had finished his message. He opened his backpack and showed Jason all of his books.
“Dude, I am crammed with homework tonight,” he said, rezipping his pack, “I don’t think I’ll be able to come tonight,”
“That’s fine,” Jason said understanding, “Tell Tony and Josh that we’ll just go on Saturday.”
The two agreed and took their separate ways. Jason had been meaning to head into the city to purchase some new jeans anyways. He dropped his books off at home and made his way to the city. He landed on the northern part of the city, which had the river flowing right past it. In the summer, a lot of families would go out boating on the river. There was a big, black bridge that stretched nearly a mile long to the other side, leading to the highways out of the city. He had gone out with Tony’s family once and enjoyed it quite a bit. It wasn’t often that he would come to this side of the city. It wasn’t the best part of the city. Apartments were run down and there were a lot of warehouses in the area. It was the development part of the city, which basically meant the storage part of the town. The city always claimed to have plans to fix that part of the city up, but it never happened.
Jason, however, had found a nice haircut parlor and a clothing store he liked in that part of the city. He couldn’t find the type of jeans he really liked anywhere else at such a good price. He found himself making trips to the store now and then and seemed to get a haircut about every six weeks. This part of town wasn’t very active. He saw some people walking on the sidewalks, but aside from that everything was very dull. He turned onto a street and got a strange feeling inside when he saw no cars and no people. It wasn’t unusual for the river side of town, but it still bothered Jason.
He was walking on the sidewalks, only a few blocks from the clothing store, when he suddenly heard screams coming from inside a warehouse. He looked up from his phone and turned to the warehouse. He dashed for the side door and entered, not knowing what to expect inside. When he got inside, he saw a bunch of crates stacked against the walls and going further into the warehouse. The ceiling was high and there was a lot of open space with everything pushed to the back. He found the source of the sound at the center of the room. A man was tied to a chair and struggling to get free. Jason ran over to him and the man looked up in a panic.
“It’s alright,” Jason esured as he began untying the man, “you’re safe now,”
The man looked up at Jason and grinned. “I may be safe, but you sure aren’t,”
Caught off guard, the man kicked Jason backwards and into a group of crates. Jason stood up to see the man on his feet with a look of satisfaction. He was tall and had charcoal hair. He was a strong looking man with a slightly disfigured face. Two other guys, just as big as the first, dropped down from above. Jason spat and gritted his teeth. Quixons.
He could feel now that they had no heat signatures. The first man’s skin changed to a very pale color and his eyes grew dark red and black. The others already had the appearance working for them. They all looked very happy to see that they’d lured Jason in here. The two that had dropped down looked to be about as strong as the first, but one was a little thicker, while the other was taller and thinner. He clenched his fists and began to stare his three foes down. He didn’t want to let his anger get the best of him so he took a deep breath.
“It’s about time you stumbled in here, Aspen. Our boss has been waiting for you.” The chunky Quixon said.
“So,” Jason said, “I see I’ve been making an impression.”
“Our boss has got his eye on you, boy. He could strike at you any moment he wants.” The tall one said a little irritated that Jason was being a smart ass.
“Then why doesn’t he?” Jason questioned boldly, “Is he afraid?”
“He isn’t afraid of a dog like you, Aspen scum!” the first one said.
“Then where the hell is he?” Jason asked, angry about the comment.
“He simply instructed us to take care of the pest…he has other matters to attend to.” The tall one grinned.
“Have at it then, you assholes!” Jason cried.
The three Quixons leapt off in different directions. Jason saw one shoot up at the roof and pursued him. The Quixon looked down to see Jason coming for him. A whip of darkness snaked down at Jason, but he dodged the attack. He got close to the Quixon and sent a few punches into his chest. It was the taller one of the bunch. He tried to block Jason’s attacks but they were much too fast. Jason resisted the darkness inside him and slammed his fist into the Quixon’s face. Dazed, it couldn’t avoid the crash as it flew towards the ground and into some crates.
Jason heard a noise from behind him and sensed an attack coming. Jason, still in mid-air, dodged the anticipated attack and elbowed the first Quixon in the gut. As he did so, the fat one snuck around behind him and hit him in the back of the head. Jason, not willing to go down, dropped down a little ways and landed smoothly on the floor. The two Quixon’s from above descended on him, ready to attack. Jason lifted his hands into the air and thought now was as good a time as ever to try his new attack. The attack not only sent a wave of flame at the enemy, but hit them like a truck. Jason released the flames and saw the impacted erupt into a large aurora of orange and red color.
The first Quixon took a direct hit and collided with the roof of the warehouse. The thinker Quixon was a little more resistant to the attack and continued down at Jason. He could see that the red eyed menace was now holding his Quix blade. He jumped back to avoid the attack, but was immediately caught from behind. The tall Quixon had rejoined the fight and was ready to help his friend double-gang Jason. Jason struggled to avoid all of the hits. He had a sword swinging at him from one side and a volley of punches and kicks on the other side. Jason caught a few of the punches in the chest and back, but managed to avoid the sword’s vicious slices.
Seeing that he was loosing against the double team, Jason dodged one last swipe of the blade and sent a flaming punch into the fat Quixon’s gut. It flew back into the warehouse’s wall, while the taller Quixon continued his attacks. Jason, now only having to fight one, quickly countered the punches and caught his arm. He cracked the Quixon’s arm over his knee, causing it to cry out in pain. He may have broken the bone, but at the very least he dislocated the arm. Ruthlessly, Jason lunged out at the Quixon and grabbed him by his black uniform. They all seemed to be wearing the same clothing that Sollamance had worn. Their sleeves weren’t loose like his though. Their sleeves were much tighter and resistant to ripping. With the Quixon in his hands, Jason slammed his knee into his ribs causing more pain.
The first Quixon Jason had found was back on the attack and ready to save his comrade. He shot a dark whip out at Jason, ready to do some damage, but he was ready for it. Jason spun the Quixon around and kicked him up at the shadowy whip. The whip tore right through the back of the taller Quixon and straight through his chest. He coughed up blood and hung limp. His head dropped and his eyes closed. The whip pulled back to the first Quixon, letting the taller Quixon’s body drop lifelessly to the ground.
Angry, the first Quixon landed on the ground and was rejoined by chucky one. The first one manifested his sword and the two held them at the ready position. They weren’t about to give Jason a chance to attack again. They lunged forward and Jason bent his knees. He was going to have to time this just right. The two bloodthirsty Quixons charged at Jason blindly ready to swing their swords. As they did, Jason pushed up into the air and flipped upside down. He hung in mid-air with his hands extended. Flames exploded around the two monsters causing them to yell out in pain. He landed a few yards from the flames as they settled.
The Quixon’s were done with Jason’s tactics. Out of the flames, a dark whip shot at Jason’s legs and wrapped around his ankle. It held him in place as the large Quixon jumped from the flames and into the air. His sword reflected off the hanging lights in on the ceiling. Jason struggled to get away, but was making no progress on the whip. He saw the blade coming down on him ready to slice through him. With a strong pull, Jason yanked the whip backwards, pulled the first Quixon a little ways. The sword came down on the whip, cutting Jason free. Jason sprung at the chucky Quixon and kicked him across the face. He dropped his sword and slid across the warehouse floors. The floors were slick and hard. It didn’t feel good to go sliding across them.
Jason paced over to the hurt Quixon, but heard the first one coming from behind. He turned so that he could see the attack coming. With a strong wave of heat, Jason sent the charging Quixon hurdling back into the boxes. Debris shot out of the hole in the crate where the Quixon had gone in. He wouldn’t be back for awhile. Jason continued after the large Quixon, which was trying to get up. He had blood running from his mouth and snot coming from his nose. They were truly like animals…and this one was helpless.
Jason looked into the Quixon red eyes, intimidating the demonic creature. It shot another smoke-like whip at its blade, trying to reclaim his weapon, but Jason crushed the whip with his foot. He had had just about enough tricks from this monster. He held both of his hands at his side and opened them wide. The flames began to encase around the Quixon’s body. He cried out in pain as the fiery attack burned him alive. Jason increased the flames heat, hoping to put an end to the Quixon’s miserable life. Within a few more seconds, the Quixon stopped making noise and dropped
