I can still see her. The woman I was supposed to protect. The one I swore would never be hurt. Yet here I am alive and breathing while she was buried in the ground.

Two weeks ago, I lost the only woman who has ever held my heart when she took a bullet to the chest. The hospital wasn’t able to save her, and her father blamed me for not stepping in front of her. And he’s right I should have been fast enough to keep her safe.

Shaking my head, I glance up at the sky, “Why did you do this to me? You took the only person in this world who ever gave a damn about me.” I roar over the crashing waves. I used to think there was a God up there but after she died, I lost all faith in everything.

“I can’t live without her,” I scream raising my hands in the air.

“Son, I suggest you put that gun down,” a man's voice yells over the roaring wind and crashing waves.

Whipping my head around, I find some dude standing far enough away for him to hear me from where I’m sitting on top of the dune. Scanning over the man who decided to join me I notice the leather cut he’s wearing. On either side I notice the two patches. On one side it has President and the other his name, Ghoul. Who the fuck goes by a name like that?

“Get the fuck away from me, this isn’t any of your business,” I snarl, wanting him to leave me the hell alone.

“Not goin’ to happen kid. You don’t want the nature of the beast to cut you down, not when there’s more for you to do,” he says, sternly, his arms crossed over his chest.

“There’s nothing else for me to do,” I protest. There’s nothing more for me to do. Not when she’s gone.

“You saying you don’t wanna go after the fucker responsible for the death of your woman?” he asks, inquisitively.

What the fuck?

“Who the hell are you and how do you know about my wife?” I demand, narrowing my gaze on him.

“Name’s Ghoul and I don’t know who your wife is,” he says shrugging his shoulders. “I’d only come up here to get your crazy ass down before you got your ass killed. Heard what you were saying and figured I’d offer you the chance of a lifetime.”

Chance of a lifetime, yeah right. This dude’s gotta be joking. Turning my head back toward the waves, I can’t help but question if there is a chance to catch the man responsible for my wife’s death.

“What’s this chance of a lifetime?” I ask, glancing in his direction.

“To start a new life, become someone who you need to be,” he says, nonchalantly.

“And if I don’t want a new life, and want to die right here,” I inquire.

“Then you or I can put a bullet in your head,” he shrugs. “But I’m telling you this, if you wanna new life, one where you get what you want most, shut down your emotions. Lock your heart up and become someone else, become that person.”

A wave crashes against the dune right underneath where I’m sitting. The worst of the storm is only beginning and soon these waves will be crashing over. Right now, I have a choice, eat a bullet and let the waves take my body or shut it all off and start a new life.

“What’s it gonna be?” Ghoul asks.

Glancing at the ocean once more, I stand up, put the gun in the back of my pants and brush the wet sand off my ass. I’ll take his offer. One day I will face down the man responsible for murdering my wife in cold blood. I will show no mercy to the Alcazar Cartel not when they protect the one who pulled the trigger.

“Guess it’s time to start that new life,” I say, closing my eyes I take a deep breath and force all the hurt and pain away as I shut all my emotions down.

Nodding, Ghoul simply turns around and heads back down the dune. It’s then I saw the patch on the back of his cut, Royal Bastards MC. “Then come on, let's get out of here,” he calls out over his shoulder.

Two weeks ago, I lost my Emery and my soul. The only thing that will now course through my body is hate.

Today my life as Samuel is over as I become Scorch.

Chapter One

Scorch

Present

“Yo Prez, there’s someone on the phone for you,” my brother, Ram yells through the door as he pounds his fist against the damn thing, interrupting what I’m doing.

“Go the fuck away,” I growl as I plow more forcefully into Bubbles’ ass. I’d just gotten back from a three-day run and all I wanted to do was fuck, shower and sleep. In that order. The hell if I want to go to sleep with some bitch’s scent on me. So, the moment I stepped foot in the clubhouse I grabbed the first CW I came to. Meaning Bubbles was it.

I didn’t mind since she has a big ass and loved being fucked this side to Sunday. However, the downside to fuckin the bitches that act as the CW’s, short for clubwhores, they can’t seem to learn when to shut the fuck up. Bubbles knows the deal. I don’t wanna hear her screaming my name. Hell, I don’t even give a damn if she gets off long as I get mine. It’s the way of my world. If you can’t handle it get the fuck out that’s what I’d learned a long time ago.

Ram pounds on the door again, “Prez, serious shit here,” he yells through the door.

“Then tell the fucker to hold the fuck on,” I snap, gripping the CW’s hips as her ass tightens around me as she screams into the pillow.

Three strokes later I cum in the condom and pull out of Bubbles. Slapping her on the ass
